Sales, Purchases and Development of Commercial Property


We have a combined 40 years’ experience in all facets of commercial property transactions. Some of the common circumstances that we deal with are:

  • OIO approval (this is not immediately an issue and is dependent on a few factors).
  • Whether the property is sold tenanted or with vacant possession.
  • If vacant, will there be a lease back to your business?
  • Is this an investment property, and if so, other matters need considering including the GST position of the parties; the earthquake NBS rating and its relevance to the transaction (or not); the strength, or otherwise, of the leases, and the accounting position.
  • For a development property, a thorough due diligence is required.

No two transactions are the same and it is imperative for us to thoroughly understand the nature of the deal and we work very closely with our clients in this regard.

Development and construction financing

Financing and security is one of our specialist areas. We have significant experience acting for both lenders and borrowers and are fortunate at Davenports to have a former senior commercial banker with us as a director, Jeremy Parsons. We can assist with acquisition finance, construction finance and also refinancing or security and financing changes. We can also provide assistance on the proper loan and security structure and how it impacts other areas of your business and/or personal situation.

Through our lending arm, Buxton Capital Limited Partnership, we can also look at financing your project, if all relevant criteria are met.
